Hey, What the Heck is Going On? - Part II

So, I was going to move on to something else for a few days, but then I read fellow-blogger, Steve Edwards' 2/20/06 post and I had to say a few words about the continuing revolution on Nanotechnology.com and our coming INDEX (oi vey, not another index!! but don't stop reading . . . there can be a few good indices - but ONLY ONE "bogey" or standard against which money managers are judged and performance is gauged, and ours is IT) AND the small tech stock forums and discussion groups that are arriving any day now.

First issue of my stock e-ALERT, The Small Tech Prospector??? Got your trading fingers ready? - it will come out next week. About 775 of you have signed up for it and I'll decide at a later date when to cut off new subscribers. I won't let too many subs get in the way of performance in these relatively illiquid stocks.

Stock discussion forums will start really soon at Nanotechnology.com and will be free access for a couple months. NO ONE will want to discuss the markets in our 81 publicly small tech stocks ANYWHERE else, once they visit our boards. I will have 4 nanoscientists of from a variety of scientific disciplines roaming the forums to correct and answer science and technical questions. Within 3 months, the forums will be limited to Silver and Gold Members and the scientists; that's it. I'm tired of seeing the know-nothings and promoters on the other sites pushing their idiocy. We'll do our best to call "b_" when we see it . . . in a kinder gentler way . . perhaps . . . not!

Talking about our 81 stocks . . . Have you noticed the change of the stocks on the home page of our site? Many are gone; new ones have arrived. Gold Members will soon have access to scientific, technical and competitive landscape commentary on most of them, AND on the 30 in our new index our scientists will be updating their comments EVERY 4 MONTHS!

Look for the Index in a week or so - The Nanotechnology.com Small Technology Index - Seven nanoscientists and I ruminated, argued (collegially, of course) and fine-tuned this list over the last 30 months. We have the stocks. We the allocation model. We have the calculation. WE HAVE THE RATIONAL REASONS WHY this will be the smartest, most useful, scariest (yes, scary . . . hedgefund managers and professional traders DON'T LIKE TO HAVE TO BEAT "SMART" INDICES . . .AND OURS IS VERY SMART) index out there.

In addition, ours is the FIRST "small tech" - NOT limited, tiny niche (pun intended) nanotech index . . They (even Steve will admit this I think, as his Index, while the best, is more an exercise in the arena, not a serious index - - he knows his 14 are most of what's out there . . . why call it an INDEX?) are an index of nothing because there are barely 20 publicly-traded, truly nanotech companies in the world! We include MEMs, microfluidics, and the cutting edge of microelectronics as well as nanotechnology. But more on this later . . .

Hey, What the Heck is Going On? - Part I

A quiet revolution is advancing under the surface.

Not one to meander too far from making and saving money in small tech, like some other writers on investing in nano (hey, I've been an investment pro for longer than some of these guys have breathed life on the planet . . . 33 years. I don't want to waste your time or mine), but bear with me a moment.

The 1950's (Eisenhower and Elvis) actually ended in 1963 with The Beatles.
The 60's (Hippies, Sgt. Peppers, The Dead and Jimi) truly started in 1967, and really didn't end until 1973 with (Bowie and Glam).
The 70's (Disco and Inflation) began in 1977 and ended with 1982 with the popular acceptance of New Wave and Punk and the "death of equities".
The 80's (The End of the Cold War and the start of the economic boom) actually began in the mid-80's with the change in the tax code and (forgive me, Stevie Wonder and a few others) the death of music . . . .and ended with Monica Lewinsky in 1996.
The 90's (Booming VC Returns and Age of Greed) truly began in 1996 and ended in 2003 when most of the public finally realized that the market top in 2000 was really "real".
The 2000's have only just begun, but it won't be clear to folks until 2007 or so.

What are the 2000's about, and what does it have to say to small technology investors? It's about a revolution in the venture capital model; it's about the re-emergence and re-taking back of the POWER of and by the investing public.

I'm forcing Nanotechnology.com (Investment Professionals: Eminent Scientists) to a leadership role in this arena. The so-called "2000's" are likely to be with us until 2012-2016. If you join us, I truly believe you'll be on the winning side. On the other hand, if you associate with teams that lack EITHER deep scientific OR shrewd trading and investment analysis skills (You know who you are), you might just have your head handed to you (by me . . . hey, if you think the markets are all rational, kind and gentle . . . . get your info and stock picks from them).

Lately, I'm seeing an explosion of HYPE, PROMOTION (Scam type AND from insiders who should know better . . . but don't - because they've come to believe their own hype . . . ) - If you have a mailbox; if you have an email address; if you INVEST OR SEEK INVESTORS . . . you've seen it, too! Am I claiming we can help protect you from this avalanche of bull? . . . well, yeah, I'm sure we can. Am I guaranteeing you'll make money? Well, no one who plays by the rules can do that . . .but I'll argue you have a better chance (whether you're a scientist, investor, speculator, engineer or executive) of making money with my team and SAB than with a bunch of stock jockeys OR a crew of scientifically or MBA-trained investment unsophisticates.

What do you think? (plus remember, there's a money back guarrantee!)

This is a bit obnoxious, but (I'm told) blogs can be a bit obnoxious.

The Nanotechnology.com site isn't FREE anymore.

The website entreprenuer "slash" scientificytechnoid folks currently running nano sites and portals who want 20,000 visitors, yet have nothing of value to offer besides news and industry, self-serving drivel, can have them.

Give me 100 folks who totally "get" the value in paying $7 or $25/mo to make or save $1,000s! Get Gold Membership Now (sorry marketing guys, I think Silver is for wimps) so you don't miss one issue of The Small Tech Prospector and all the other cool stuff coming soon!

Look for Part II on "what the heck is going on?" in a few days.
